Patrick H. Casey

YOUNGSTOWN - Patrick H. Casey, Jr., 88, passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 26, 2025, in the comfort of his home, with his loved ones by his side.

Patrick was born Oct. 31, 1937, in Youngstown, a son of the late Patrick H. Casey and Erna Hartwick Casey. He was raised in the Brier Hill neighborhood and was a proud graduate of The Rayen School.

Pat worked as a meat cutter for Rimedio Value King in Austintown before embracing his entrepreneurial spirit. Over the years, he opened several businesses, including Tuff Coat Dynol in the 1970s, Boardman Muffler, and the first video store in Boardman — always eager to bring new ideas to the community. He later worked for Schwebel’s Baking Company, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of his coworkers and retired in the late 2000s.

A man of faith and service, Pat was a former member of St. Christine Church, where he could be found volunteering at the annual parish festival. More recently, he was a member of St. Blaise Parish, St. Joseph Church in Austintown.

Pat had a lifelong appreciation for history, and Gettysburg held a special place in his heart. He visited often, joined the Gettysburg Foundation, and volunteered as a groundskeeper — proud to care for a place that meant so much to him. He loved sharing stories and could talk for hours about the people, landmarks, and moments that shaped history. One of his fondest memories was working at Idora Park at age 14, an experience he recalled with joy and nostalgia throughout his life.

Dedicated to his children and community, Pat volunteered as a Boardman Band Parent during their school years and helped with American Red Cross blood drives. He believed in showing up, lending a hand, and doing what he could — whether it was for family, friends, or strangers.

Pat is survived by his longtime companion of 30 years, Carole Gail, with whom he shared a loving home. He also leaves Carole’s children, Geri (Eugene) Senczyszak and David Hahn, and her grandchildren, Adam and Nadia Senczyszak, whom he lovingly embraced as his own. Pat will also be deeply missed by his children, Jeanne Schrock of Spokane, Washington; Michael Casey of Delray Beach, Florida; and David Casey of Las Vegas; five grandchildren; and many extended family members, neighbors, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Patrick H. Casey III and Christopher Casey; his brother, Donald Casey; and sister-in-law, Bernice Casey.

Private services were held Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, at Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.

Patrick was laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania.
