AUSTINTOWN - Patricia Irene Gillis, 77, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, at her home from complications of a stroke.

Patricia was born May 12, 1938, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Benjamin Marcus and Mary Jane Anderson Beight, and lived most of her life in Austintown.

A direct decedent of O.T. Beight, founder of O.T. Beight Monuments in East Palestine, Patricia was a homemaker who dedicated her adult life to raising and caring for her family.

Mrs. Gillis was a member of the Catholic War Veterans John J. Buckley Post on Steel Street in Youngstown, where she helped out at the steak fries and other functions.

Her husband of 50 years, John W. Gillis Jr., whom she married in 1958, passed away in 2008.

Patricia leaves her daughter, Tina Harris, with whom she made her home; her son, Mark Gillis; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Gillis; two grandsons, Marcus Allen Gillis and Forrest Sokoloski; two brothers, Jerald "Jerry" (Linda) Beight of Poland and Benjamin "Butch" Beight of Cleveland; and a sister, Kay Ann Campbell of East Palestine.

Per Patricia's request, there will be no public services or calling hours.

Private committal services for family and close friends will take place at a future date in Unity Township.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.
