Obituary

WEATHERSFIELD TWP. - Norman E. McNeal, 90, passed away late Wednesday morning, April 15, 2020, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital following a brief illness.

Norman was born July 13, 1929, in Fluvanna County, Va., a son of the late Andrew Houston McNeal and Gladys Smith McNeal, and came to the Mahoning Valley as a young man in the early 1950s.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, proudly serving during the Korean War. Mr. McNeal was a welder early in his working years, and later retired as a carpenter and construction worker.

Norman enjoyed reading, fishing, and gardening. He had a great fondness for the outdoors, and he truly loved his family.

He leaves his wife, Minnie Hollabaugh McNeal, whom he married Aug. 2, 1974; four children, Deborah (George) Lisko of Lake Milton, Gayle (Michael) Paulus of Niles, Kim of Mineral Ridge, and Curtis McNeal of McDonald; eight grandchildren, Chris, Dawn, Lisa, Jennifer, Jeff, Shon, Bruce, and Sam; many great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty DiRenzo of Boardman.

Two sons, Keith and James McNeal, and a brother, Edward McNeal, are deceased.

Due to the current virus pandemic, there will be no calling hours, and a private committal service with military honors will take place Monday, April 20, at Kerr Cemetery in Niles.

A public memorial service will be planned for a later date.

Norman's family thanks the staff of St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for the kindness shown and care given during his illness.

Arrangements were entrusted Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
