Norma Jean DiRienzo

CANFIELD — Norma Jean DiRienzo, 94, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, at Victoria House in Austintown.

Norma was born May 16, 1932, in Leechburg, Pa., the daughter of Harry and Elsie Fryer Reed.

She was a 1950 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Norma worked as a typist in the Industrial Engineering Department at Youngstown Sheet and Tube. She also volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital and worked as a receptionist for DiRienzo Photography Studio in Austintown.

Norma shared 70 years of marriage with her husband, John P. DiRienzo, until his passing June 25, 2023.

While we mourn the loss of Norma today, it is important to celebrate the incredible impact she had on those around her during her life. She enjoyed hosting holiday dinners, loved cooking and baking, and was an avid reader. In her younger days, she enjoyed going to Las Vegas and playing bingo. Her dedication to her family and friends will forever be remembered by those whose lives she touched.

Norma leaves to forever cherish her memory her children, Dennis (Terry) DiRienzo of Calcutta, Gary (Nancy) DiRienzo of Fruita, Colo., and Mark (Leslie) DiRienzo of Berlin Center; her grandchildren, Robert (Emily) DiRienzo of Jacksonville, Fla., Gina (Steve) Hess of East Liverpool, Ashley (Matthew) DiRienzo of Conifer, Colo., Dante (Dana) DiRienzo of Canfield, Justin DiRienzo of Soldotna, Alaska, and Daniel (Taylor) DiRienzo of Austintown; her great-grandchildren, Angelo DiRienzo, Dominic DiRienzo, Nora DiRienzo, Daniella DiRienzo and Charlie DiRienzo; and her sister-in-law, Marsha Reed.

In addition to her husband and parents, Norma was preceded in death by her brother, Herb Reed; her niece, Paula; her in-laws, John and Helen DiRienzo; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Henry and Jayne DiRienzo and Ben and Peg DiRienzo; and her nephew, Douglas DiRienzo.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the staff of Victoria House Assisted Living and Harmony Hospice Care for the care and support shown to Norma and her family.

There will be a private family celebration of Norma’s life per her request.
