BOARDMAN - Nellie Ruth Reedy, 93, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at her home.

Ruth was born Nov. 4, 1932, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Stanley and Anele “Nellie” Moskulunis Bundza, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1950 graduate of East High School and later attended Youngstown College, where she studied criminal justice.

Ruth worked briefly for the FBI before returning to the Youngstown area, where she began a long and dedicated career with the Youngstown Police Department. She faithfully served the department as a police officer for 30 years before retiring.

She was deeply proud of her Lithuanian heritage and especially enjoyed preparing traditional meals and baked goods for family and friends. Ruth also treasured staying connected with relatives and loved ones overseas. She found joy in sewing, stamp collecting and tending to her flower garden. In her younger years, Ruth was an avid bowler and participated in many leagues throughout the Mahoning Valley.

Ruth leaves to forever cherish her memory her son, Ralph Reedy of Boardman; her daughter, Stephanie Scionti of Willimantic, Connecticut; her sisters, Julia Reilly of Tennessee and Jean Murphy of Youngstown; and many beloved extended family members.

Her beloved husband, Charles Reedy, preceded her in death July 15, 2023. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her brothers, Stan Bundza and Al Bundza; and her sisters, Stella Cooke and Adele Perez.

Per Ruth’s request, there will be no calling hours or services.

Private interment will take place at Lake Park Cemetery, where Ruth will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
