YOUNGSTOWN - Nancy L. Weimer, 77, of the city's west side, passed away unexpectedly early Saturday morning, May 18, 2019, at her home.

Nancy was born Aug. 11, 1941, in Dawson, Pa., a daughter of the late Preston A. and Sarah McGinnis Lytle, and came to Youngstown with her family as a teenager in 1957.

Nancy proudly served others, particularly those who served our country, and was a 50-plus-year member of the Army & Navy Union USA Ladies Auxiliary, Garrison No. 422 in Girard. She was Miss Army & Navy Woman of the Year in 2008-2009, and was a Past Department President in 1985-1986.

Mrs. Weimer also belonged to the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Niles, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 3298 in Austintown.

In her younger days, Nancy was a Girl Scout Leader and also worked as a barmaid for The Grist Mill inside the Wedgewood Lanes in Austintown. She enjoyed playing slot machines, going to casinos, playing bingo, and bowling. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family.

Nancy leaves her husband of 60 years, Melvin W. Weimer, whom she married Jan. 24, 1959; her daughter, Carolyn Murphy of Youngstown; her son, Larry (Donna) Weimer of North Jackson; five grandchildren, Matthew (Melissa) Murphy, Patricia Murphy, Larry Jr. (Danielle) Weimer, Frank Weimer (Megan Hardinger), and Brittany Young; and eight great-grandchildren, Austin, Christian, Matthew Jr., Mikaylah, Sophia, Keith Jr., Frank, and Parker.

Siblings, Esther "Janet" Jones, Vera Siwula, Betty Metzler, Gertrude Genard, George Lytle, and Ola "Kate" Nichelson; and her two dachshunds. Peggy Sue and Harvey, preceded her in death.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where funeral services will follow at 7 p.m.
