IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael John
Mancini
July 31, 1946 – July 18, 2024
YOUNGSTOWN - Michael John Mancini, 77, of the city's west side, passed away peacefully, Thursday morning, July 18, 2024, in the comfort of his home.
Michael was born July 31, 1946, in Youngstown, the beloved son of the late John Michael Mancini and Katherine Hanuschak Mancini, and was a lifelong area resident.
A proud graduate of Chaney High School in 1964, Michael went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy, where he was stationed in both Georgia and Maryland. His time in the Navy was a testament to his dedication and patriotism.
After his military service, Mike embarked on a long and fruitful career at General Motors Lordstown, where he worked on the assembly line for over 30 years, retiring in the early 2000's.
Mike was a devoted member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Brier Hill. A devout Catholic, his commitment to his faith and community was evident in the countless hours he spent volunteering for various church projects. You would often find him in the early mornings making the dough for the "world-famous" original Brier Hill pizza, and always keeping his pizza family laughing. In addition, Mike would put in countless hours making the church's Easter bread dough, planning for the spaghetti dinners and church fundraisers. Mike's dedication and love for his church were unwavering.
Beyond his church involvement, Mike was a diehard Ohio State Buckeye fan no matter how much heartburn they may cause, and you almost always found him dressed in his Buckeye best. He also enjoyed watching the Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Indians. Mike had a passion for collecting and building model trains where he would spend many hours working on his model train layout or attending train shows. He was an avid bowler in his younger days and enjoyed spending his time on Lake Erie. Mike was also passionate about cutting grass and you could find him cutting several family members' lawns up into his early 70s.
Mike was a kind and generous man, always willing to lend a helping hand to others. His warmth and generosity touched the lives of many, and his legacy of kindness will be remembered by all who knew him. Above all, Mike cherished the time he spent with his family, who were the center of his world.
Michael leaves to forever cherish his memory his daughter, Anna (Robert) Eggleston of Niles; his granddaughter, Gianna Eggleston; his sister, Kathy Mancini of Youngstown; his former wife, Noreen Moderalli of Niles; a niece, Katie (Doug) Kirchner of Cuyahoga Falls; a nephew, Jason Kerlek of Virginia and many extended family members and many, many friends.
