BOARDMAN - Maryann (Pacic) Matasy, 91, passed away Friday, April 11, 2025, with her loving family by her side.
Maryann was born July 3, 1933, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Anton and Mary (Becki) Pacic. She attended Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Catholic School and was a 1950 graduate of Ursuline High School. A lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Catholic Church, she remained proud of her Croatian heritage.
She worked for many years as a bookkeeper and proof operator at Dollar Savings and Trust Bank in Youngstown and later at Sears Department Store.
Maryann was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge #66 for more than 65 years. She was an active member of the Applewood Swim and Tennis Club, and was a former member of the Applewood Bowling League, where she served as treasurer. Maryann was also involved with The Penn-Ohio Polka Pal Booster Club and the Forever Friends Card Club.
She enjoyed dancing, trips to the casino, playing cards and the lottery, and her favorite game, Sequence. Maryann traveled extensively throughout the United States and enjoyed several cruises. One of her greatest joys was visiting relatives in Croatia. She also cherished yearly beach vacations with her family to places like Wildwood, New Jersey, and Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Above all, family meant everything to her.
Maryann is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Albert A. Matasy, whom she married July 10, 1954, at Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Catholic Church; her three sons, Albert J. Matasy, and Edward A. Matasy, both of Boardman, and Robert S. (Lisa) Matasy of Austintown; two grandchildren, Matthew and Megan Matasy both of Austintown; two great-grandchildren, Connor and Rylee Matasy, who affectionately called her "Nana Pool Table." She also leaves her brother, Thomas Pacic of Grand Rapids, Mich., and several nieces and nephews.
Maryann will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen and Frances; her brothers, Carl, Walter, Joseph, Anthony and Edward Pacic; and sisters-in-law, Ruth, Natasha, Viola, Sophia and Dorothy Pacic.
Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2025, at Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Catholic Church 421 Covington St. Youngstown, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
