YOUNGSTOWN — Mary Lou Coyier, 80, of the city’s west side, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Hospice House due to complications from a fall at her home.
Mary Lou was born Aug. 11, 1945, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Holly G. Bennett and Gladys Lamp Bennett, and came to the Youngstown area in 1966.
A devoted wife and mother, Mary Lou dedicated herself to caring for her family and home. She also worked in retail sales at Kings Jewelers and Joseph Horne Co., where she worked at the jewelry counter until her retirement.
Mary Lou enjoyed shopping, arts and crafts, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Jennifer Coyier of Youngstown and Paula VanDeSteeg of Youngstown; five grandchildren, Ryan, Holly, Gordon IV, Jayden and William; her sister, Joyce Myers of West Virginia; and two brothers, Richard Bennett of West Virginia and Freddie Bennett of California.
In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Coyier Jr., whom she married in 1965 and who passed away in 2013; a granddaughter, Dana Coyier; and a brother, Butch Bennett.
In keeping with Mary Lou’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
