Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN - Martin P. Miller, 96, passed away Monday evening, February 24, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Martin was born January 10, 1929, in Youngstown, the son of the late Martin and Anna Mayer Miller and remained a lifelong resident of the area. He was a proud graduate of Chaney High School, Class of 1948, and spent over five decades as a dedicated construction contractor, retiring at the age of 81.

Marty honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he was entrusted with running the motor pool. His service and dedication to his country were a source of great pride.

A faithful and longtime member of Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, Marty found joy in his faith and the companionship of his church family. He had a passion for gardening, reading nonfiction, and spending time in his garage, always working on something with his hands. Above all, he cherished the moments spent with his family and loved ones.

Marty was best known as one half of "Marty and Marty," a loving duo with his beloved wife, Martha A. "Marty" Matchett Miller. Married on April 2, 1955, they shared nearly 60 years of love and partnership before her passing on March 13, 2015. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them.

Marty is survived by his two sons, Lee (Kathy) Miller and Mark (Fran) Miller both of Youngstown; seven grandchildren, Aaron (Stephanie) Miller, Tara (Danny) Nguyen, Rachel Parent, Monica (Scott) Thielsen, Heather Miller, Janine (Allen) Kabello and Samantha (Matt) Stonehouse; nine great-grandchildren, Haley, Benjamin, Breanna, Grayson, Gavin, Nico, Elon, Kaius and Luke; his sister, Dorothy Worrellia and many extended family members.

In addition to his wife, Marty was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Serbati, and his brother, George Miller.
