IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marcia A.
Powell
May 27, 1953 – October 26, 2025
YOUNGSTOWN — Marcia A. Powell, 72, of Youngstown's West Side, passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 26, 2025, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Marcia was born May 27, 1953, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Michael and Florence Shopinsky Kraiosky, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a 1971 graduate of Chaney High School and attended Youngstown State University, where she majored in art. Marcia worked briefly at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown as a nurse's aide before starting her family and devoting her life to caring for those she loved most.
Marcia was a woman of deep faith. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica and, more recently, attended Mass at St. Dominic Church in Youngstown.
She found joy in life's simple pleasures — vacations to Lake Erie and Geneva-on-the-Lake, tending to her garden, visiting Mill Creek Park, and attending the Canfield Fair, which she looked forward to each year. Marcia loved to read and had a special fondness for the works of Charles Dickens, having read nearly all of his novels. A talented artist, she also enjoyed crafting beach glass creations that reflected her eye for beauty and detail.
Marcia's heart belonged to her family. She delighted in planning and hosting family gatherings, baking, and was especially known for her delicious apple pie. Her home was a place filled with laughter, good food, and love — a true reflection of the warmth she shared with others. More than anything, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and joy.
Marcia is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jeffrey Powell, whom she married Oct. 2, 1976; six children, Jeffrey D. Powell of Youngstown, Sarah (Justin) Brewbaker of Clinton, Jennifer (Aaron) Virag of New Philadelphia, Bethany Powell (Stephen Ashley) of Columbus, Rebecca (Joshua) Baumann of East Palestine and Matthew Powell of Youngstown; six grandchildren, Kamaron Gartland, Gavin Virag, Collin Virag, Francis Baumann, Thomas Baumann and Margaret Baumann; her sisters, Donna Traichal of Austintown and Judy Graff of Poland; her brother, Michael (Janet) Kraiosky of North Lima; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Marcia was preceded in death by her sisters, Francine and Mary Kraiosky; and her brother in law, John Graff.
Family and friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
Funeral services will begin at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the funeral home and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mt. Carmel Ave. Youngstown.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
Marcia's family suggests memorial contributions be made to either St. Dominic Church, 77 E. Lucius Ave., Youngstown, OH 44507 or to the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center, 1044 Belmont Ave., Youngstown, OH 44504.
Marcia will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her creative heart, and the unconditional love she gave to her family and friends. Her kindness and warmth will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
