GIRARD - Lucy R. Tascione, 95, passed away peacefully, Tuesday morning, February 18, 2025, at Shepherd of the Valley Liberty. Lucy was born December 13, 1929, in Girard, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Altier Tascione and remained a lifelong resident of the area. She was a proud 1947 graduate of Girard High School and dedicated 40 years of service as a shipping and receiving attendant at General Electric Mahoning Glass Plant before retiring in 1993. Lucy's faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a devoted member of St. Rose Church, she attended daily Mass for many years and actively participated in the Mt. Carmel Society and the Altar and Rosary Society. She generously gave her time to the church community, working the concession stand for weekly bingo games, volunteering as a money counter, and singing in the church choir. A social and spirited woman, Lucy loved being surrounded by family and friends. She found joy in organizing class reunions, meeting classmates for lunch, crocheting, and even making occasional trips to the casino. Above all, she cherished time spent with her loved ones, always sharing laughter, stories, and warmth. Lucy leaves behind a large and loving family, including many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, along with extended family members who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her brother, Tony Tascione, her sisters, Mary Janis, Sarah Tascione, Mickey Pinter, and Agnes Watros, as well as her nephew, Joseph Tascione. Lucy's legacy of kindness, devotion, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at St. Rose Church 48 E. Main St., Girard. All are welcome to attend. Per Lucy's request, private interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Girard.
