AUSTINTOWN - Louis Orest Yaworsky, 69, passed away early Wednesday evening, Jan. 6, 2016, at Hospice House with his family by his side, following a five-week illness.
Louis was born April 20, 1946, in Sindelfingen, Germany, a son of Steven and Mary Stelmaszczuk Yaworsky, and came to the United States and Youngstown with his family as a child.
Lou graduated from Chaney High School in 1964 and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He later attended Youngstown State University for several years.
Mr. Yaworsky had a career in security, working first for Youngstown Sheet & Tube in corporate security for 20 years, and then he worked in security for the DeBartolo Corporation. Lou also worked private security for the Butler Institute of American Art, for PNC Bank, and most recently worked for Shane Security at the Youngstown Public Library. He was also a certified constable for Mahoning County.
Lou was very proud of his Ukrainian heritage. He was an energetic spirit, and was "always on the go" and was always ready for adventure. He loved music, enjoying polka music, listening to Engelbert Humperdinck and Dean Martin, and he enjoyed singing Karaoke. He loved dancing and spent many good times with friends at the Avon Oaks Ballroom and at Kuzman's. He also enjoyed taking videos and photographs.
Lou enjoyed classic cars, going to car shows, swimming and boating. Lou enjoyed going to the YMCA and to movies with his grandchildren, and he was very dedicated to caring for his parents and his family. He will always be remembered as a true family man.
Louis was a member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown.
Lou leaves his wife, Rosemary Meek Yaworsky, whom he married Aug. 27, 1971; two daughters, Lora (James) Brady of Austintown and Lisa (John) Nock of Boardman; four grandchildren, Haley, Steven, Leah, and Vivien; and his mother, Mary Yaworsky of Austintown.
His father and an infant sister, are deceased.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where a prayer service will take place at 5 p.m.
Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the funeral home, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 4545 New Road in Austintown.
Lou's family would like to thank Dr. Marina, Dr. Garg, Dr. Singh, and Dr. Awad, for the kindness shown and care given to Lou, and special thanks to Dr. Thomas Albani, who Lou regarded as his friend as well as his family physician.
