GIRARD — Lidiia Zabrodina, 61, passed away peacefully, Sunday afternoon, May 11, 2025, at Hospice House with her family by her side.

Lidiia was born April 24, 1964, in Popeluhi, Ukraine, a daughter of the late Wasyl and Olha Kukuruza Chata. She immigrated to the United States in March 2016, initially settling in Pittsburgh before moving to Girard in 2020.

She earned a master's degree in Ukraine and worked as a teacher for 25 years, dedicating her life to the education and nurturing of young minds.

Lidiia enjoyed gardening, knitting, traveling, and spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Oleh Zabrodin, whom she married Dec. 31, 1988; two children, Oleksandr (Olha) Zabrodin and Mykhailo (Anastasia) Zabrodin; two grandchildren, Daniel and Mykhailo; a brother, Volodymyr Chata of Ukraine; and several extended family members.

Private family services were held. Lidiia was laid to rest at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
