SEWELL, NEW JERSEY - Lidia D. Pellin, née Syvanych, 72, of Washington Township, formerly of Austintown, passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 30, 2023, at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving children.
Lidia was born June 23, 1951, in Bielsko, Poland, a daughter of the late Stefan "Steve" Syvanych and Julia Skamaj Syvanych.
Lidia was a resident of Washington Township for over forty years. She worked as a Principal Library Assistant in the Campbell Library at Rowan University, for 25 years before retiring in 2015.
Mrs. Pellin was a devoted parishioner of Church of the Holy Family and she also attended Mass and parish events at several other churches near her home.
She served as treasurer of the Gold Star Wives of America, Inc., Holly Bush Chapter of the Mid-Atlantic Region, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, shopping, traveling and spending time with her family.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Lidia leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Angela (David) Domen; her son, Brian Pellin; her granddaughter, Allison; two sisters, Mary (Richard) Mines, and Olga (Andrew) Ziobert; two brothers, John Syvanych and Steve (Halyna) Syvanych and several nieces, nephews and extended family members, whom she loved dearly.
Lidia will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her husband of 23 years, August F. Pellin III, whom she married October 1, 1972, passed away October 17, 1995.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2023, at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where a prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m.
Prayers will be offered at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the funeral home and continue with a funeral service which will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Rd., Austintown.
Interment will follow at Resurrection cemetery in Austintown where Lidia will be laid to rest beside her husband.
In lieu of flowers, Lidia's family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Ukrainian National Foundation, Inc., 2200 Route 10 P.O. Box 280 Parsippany, NJ 07054 in Lidia's memory.
