YOUNGSTOWN - Larry H. Smith, 78, passed away peacefully, Saturday evening, June 7, 2025, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the love of his family.

Larry was born Nov. 11, 1946, in Salineville, a son of the late Howard and Loraine Parsons Smith, and lived in the area most of his life.

He was a 1965 graduate of Southern Local High School and began working for the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1966. He later worked for Conrail and retired as a train dispatcher in 2015.

Larry enjoyed basketball, old cars, trains and, most of all, spending time with his family.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Jeff) Kapics, with whom he made his home; his son, Chad (Stacy) Smith of Akron; seven grandchildren, Mason, Alyssa, Alec, Dane, Dominic, Connor and Landon; two great grandchildren, Ruston "Rusty" and Reece with one more on the way; his sister, Darlene Jenkins of Salem; his brother, Bob (Debbie) Smith of Hanoverton; and many extended family members.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his son, Brett Smith and his sister, Joyce Murphy.

Per Larry's request there are no calling hours or services.

Private interment will take place at Springhill Cemetery in Wellsville, where Larry will be laid to rest in the family plot.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
