Obituary

AUSTINTOWN – Kathryn Rose Hanni, 86, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 21, 2024, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love of her family.

Kathryn was born November 29, 1938, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Charles Pollard and Rose Barletti Pollard . She grew up in Youngstown, a city that held a special place in her heart, and throughout her life, she also called California, West Virginia, and Texas home before returning to Youngstown 22 years ago.

A proud graduate of South High School, Class of 1956, Kathryn pursued higher education at Penn-Ohio Junior College. She built a fulfilling career as a certified court reporter and later shared her expertise by serving as an instructor at Penn-Ohio Junior College for 20 years.

Kathryn's most cherished roles, however, were those of a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She poured her heart into her family, creating a home filled with love, warmth, and treasured memories.

Kathryn leaves to forever cherish her memory her four children, Charles "Chuck" Hanni (Vicky Naples) of Austintown, Lora K. Hanni, with whom she shared her home, Letty Francis of Colorado and Lee Hanni of Colorado; four grandchildren, Sara (Chris) Boyd, Robbie Francis, Joey Jones and Hannah Jones, a sister, Rose Posie Murphy of Boardman and many nieces and nephews.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Robert D. Hanni, as well as her siblings Jackie Bainbridge, Charles P. Morgan, and Charlene Hofus, and her brother-in-law, Dennis Murphy.

Per Kathryn's request, there are no calling hours or services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
