GIRARD - Katherine Lasko, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, July 17, 2018, at Liberty Health Care Center, just three days after her 92nd birthday.

Katherine was born July 14, 1926, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Joseph Sr. and Philomena Zemko, and was a Chaney High School graduate and a lifelong area resident.

Katherine worked for a time at the Moyers Pants Factory, and at the General Electric Mazda Lamp Plant as a lamp inspector. After her marriage in 1952, she devoted the rest of her life to raising and caring for her family, a job she truly loved.

Mrs. Lasko was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Youngstown. She enjoyed cooking, reading, and antiquing, and she loved the time she spent with her family.

Katherine's husband, Edward K. Lasko, whom she married Sept. 29, 1952, passed away July 8, 2011.

She leaves two sons, Kenneth E. (Mary Lee) Lasko of Niles and Dr. Kevin J. (Stephanie) Lasko of Quarryville, Pa.; six grandchildren, Justin (Tricia) Lasko, Kendra (Brandon) Baltes, and Madison, Brock, Natalie, and Olivia Lasko; three great-grandchildren, Kyleigh, Julia, and Chloe; a brother, Joseph (Thelma) Zemko of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Katherine will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Besides her husband, four siblings, Mary Katchmer, Ann Gill, Rose Rappach, and John Zemko, are deceased.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, July 20, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where a prayer service will take place at 4:30 p.m.

Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at the funeral home and will continue at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church on North Belle Vista Avenue, Youngstown.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Katherine will be laid to rest next to her husband.

Katherine's family thanks the nurses at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, and the staff with Liberty Health Care Center, for the kindness shown and care given to Mrs. Lasko and her family.
