Obituary

POLAND - Karen A. Muransky, 67, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, February 4, 2024, at St.Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with her husband, David and cousin, Sharon by her side following a one-year illness.

Karen was born February 20, 1956, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Louis and Margaret Hrina Wallace and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1974 graduate of Chaney High School and attended Youngstown State University earning a bachelor's degree in psychology.

Mrs. Muransky was a dedicated  member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church in Youngstown where she was involved with the rosary society, rosary makers, golden pillars, pyrohy project, parish council and was the manager for the weekly bingo game. Karen was also a member, activity director and parish coordinator for Greek Catholic Union Lodge 164.

She was an incredible cook and baker and will always be remembered for her delicious stuffed cabbage, kolache and cookies. She was a loyal wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She loved holidays, traditions, traveling and especially enjoyed her visits to the beach. Her favorite pastimes were working crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles, playing games on her iPad, visiting the casino and playing 500 rummy with her husband.

Karen leaves to forever cherish her memory her husband of 37 years, David M. Muransky, whom she married October 25, 1986, her brother, Ronald Wallace, Sr., of New Ulm Texas; her brother-in-law, Frank Muransky of Youngstown; nieces, Michelle Muransky of Dunwoody, GA, Cheryl (Mike) Kelty Cranberry Township, PA, Tiffany Wallace-Polak and her children, Connor and Catherine all of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Christina (Goran) Marjanovich of Katy, Texas; a nephew, Aaron Wallace of Austin, Texas; her lifelong best friend, Nancy Melnek of Canfield as well many extended family members and friends.

Karen is preceded in death by her sisters-in-law, Ellan Wallace and Kathie Kirkland as well as her nephew and godson, Ronnie Wallace, Jr.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2024, at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown where a prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m.

Funeral Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 10 at the funeral home and continue with a funeral service which will be held at 10:30 am at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church 356 S. Belle Vista Ave. Youngstown.

Interment will follow at St. Mary parish cemetery.
