IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Judith Ann
Mitchell
August 31, 1942 – January 28, 2025
AUSTINTOWN - Judith Ann Mitchell, 82, passed away peacefully Tuesday Jan. 28, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Judith was born Aug. 31, 1942, in Youngstown to Tim and Edith Seidner Crosbie. She remained in the area throughout her life, raising her children and working at Austintown Middle School, where she was a beloved cafeteria worker for more than 20 years. She took great pride in her cooking, always ensuring the students were happy.
Judy was an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She cherished teaching her granddaughters to sew and loved hosting sleepovers for her grandchildren. These special nights were filled with board games, card games—especially rummy—and, of course, movies and popcorn. She was a devoted supporter at every event for her children and grandchildren, always cheering them on and offering the best advice and encouragement.
She had a passion for sewing, crafting and playing cards. Judy also enjoyed dinners with her close-knit group of work friends, who became like family. Full of energy, she stayed active through golf, bowling and water aerobics. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her sisters at their childhood cottage on Lake Milton, a tradition she lovingly passed on to her children, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Judy was a woman of faith and loved attending weekly services at her church, Western Reserve United Methodist Church. She was always just a phone call or short drive away, ready to offer a helping hand, words of encouragement or even a joke. She went above and beyond for everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her kindness, generosity and love will forever live on in her children and grandchildren as well as all those whose lives she touched.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Kelly (Gary) Peck of Austintown; her son, Dean (Karen) Mitchell of Seven Hills, OH; her four grandchildren, Kayla (Phillip) Purdy, Gary William Peck, Jamie (Abbey) Mitchell, and Grace Mitchell; her great-grandchild, Zander Peck; her three sisters, Karen Winebold of Austintown, Janet (Dave) McConnell of Boardman and Lee Richards of Poland as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother-in-law, Chuck Winebold.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the amazing staff at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital for the comfort and compassion they provided to Judy and her family during this time.
