YOUNGSTOWN - Joyce M. Cappitte, 87, of the city's westside, passed away peacefully early Saturday evening, Aug. 18, 2018, at Omni Manor, with her family at her side.

Joyce was born Jan. 22, 1931, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Thorval and Cecilia Schimpf Thoresen, and was a lifelong area resident.

She attended Girard High School, and worked for Towel Supply on Rayen Avenue in Youngstown, where she met her future husband, Jim. After her marriage, Joyce was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker who also worked outside the home for Serviclean.

Mrs. Cappitte was a member of St. Brendan Church in Youngstown. She enjoyed cooking and baking, playing cards, tending to her dogs and cats, and caring for her family.

Her beloved and loving husband of 58 years, James Thomas Cappitte, whom she married Nov. 17, 1951, passed away Sept. 13, 2010.

Joyce leaves her daughter, Beatrice (John) Arnold of Youngstown; her son, Robert (Terri) Cappitte of Youngstown; five grandchildren, Sherri (Ralph) Santiago, Bobby Cappitte, Dawn Arnold, Eric Arnold, and Christie (Jason) Butler; great-grandchildren, Jaden, Justice, Leah, Jada, DeMarco, Kilani, and Naomi; and a brother, Michael (Donna) Kipros of Berlin Center.

She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Besides her husband, her twin sister, Joanne Lampe; a brother, Edward Thoresen; and a great-granddaughter, Serenity Butler, are deceased.

Per Joyce's wishes, there are no calling hours or services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
