YOUNGSTOWN - Josephine L. Conglose, 93, of the city's west side, passed away early Tuesday evening, Dec. 29, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, following a brief illness.
Josephine was born March 10, 1922, in West Pittsburg, Pa., a daughter of the late Lewis and Julia Capots Ross. She lived in Elwood City, Pa. as a child, and came to Youngstown following her marriage on Sept. 13, 1952, to Carmen S. Conglose Sr.
Josephine was a 1940 graduate of Lincoln High School in Elwood City, and prior to her marriage worked as a timekeeper at the National Tube Mill, and as a bookkeeper at Shenson's Furniture Store, both in Elwood City.
Mrs. Conglose's greatest enjoyment in life came from being a homemaker and caring for her family and friends. She also enjoyed crocheting and made many blankets over the years for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Brendan Church in Youngstown.
Josephine leaves two children, Donna (Richard) Crossman of Malta, New York and Carmen S. Jr. (Mary Frances) Conglose of Youngstown; four grandchildren, Julie (John) Lovely of Massachusetts, Vincent (Elizabeth) Conglose of Austintown, James (Stephanie) Conglose of Youngstown, and Caitlin (Brian) Fee of Boardman; and four great-grandchildren, Vinny, Bella, and Hallie Conglose, and Dean Fee.
Her husband of nearly 58 years, Carmen, passed away Aug. 25, 2010. Josephine was also preceded in death by an infant sister, and two brothers, Robert and Lewis Ross.
Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 2, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home, and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Avenue, Youngstown.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Josephine will be laid to rest next to her husband.
Josephine's family would like to thank the staff at Park Vista Retirement Community, as well as the nurses at St. Elizabeth Health Center's Six West Extension, for the kindness shown and compassionate care provided to Mrs. Conglose during the final weeks of her life.
