AUSTINTOWN – Joseph A. Devlin, 65, passed away unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, June 9, 2018, at his home of natural causes.

Joseph was born Sept. 11, 1952, in Youngstown, and was the son of the late Robert and Kathleen Furman Devlin. He attended South High School and lived his life in this area.

Entrepreneurial at heart, he owned and operated a janitorial service company for many years, cleaning and maintaining many area businesses. He also owned and operated his own catering business, Joe's Catering.

He attended bible college, and earned an Evangelical Teacher Training certificate from the Free Gospel Bible Institute in 1976. Mr. Devlin was a very active member of his church, First Christian Assembly in Liberty Township, where he was a beloved musician and vocalist. He also enjoyed bowling.

Joseph's wife Bonnie Wick Devlin, whom he married April 10, 1971, passed away Jan. 12, 1994.

He leaves two brothers, Norman (Carol) Mathews of Boardman and James Nicholson, with whom he shared his home; his niece and "adopted daughter," Sherri Laverty of Palmetto, Fla.; two nephews, David (Tina) Mathews and Stephen Mathews; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Amber, Cassie, Keri, James, Jenna, Brianna, and Brittany.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 14, at First Christian Assembly, 3243 Cardinal Drive, in Liberty Township. Family and friends may also call from 10 to 10:45 a.m., Friday, June 15, at the church, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m.

Committal services will take place at a later date at Tod Homestead Cemetery in Youngstown, where Joseph will be laid to rest with his wife, Bonnie.
