YOUNGSTOWN - John M. Span, Sr., 89, passed away peacefully, Tuesday evening, January 24, 2023, at his home.

John was born September 4, 1933, in Youngstown, a son of the late John H. and Mabel Span. John Lived in Las Vegas for a short time but spent most of his life in the Youngstown area.

He worked for several hotels and casinos while living in Las Vegas. John also worked as a waiter at the Holiday Inn Metroplex on Belmont Avenue.

Mr. Span proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

John leaves to cherish his memory his two sons, John M. Span, Jr., and Randy J. Span, both of Youngstown; two sisters, Jennie of Boardman and Sandy of Austintown and several nieces and nephews and extended family members.

His wife of 55 years, Margaret L. Span, whom he married August 10, 1963, passed away December 1, 2018. A brother, William Span, and two sisters, Lois and Mary Lou, also preceded John in death.

There are no calling hours or services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
