AUSTINTOWN – JoAnn E. Sebest, 85, passed away Friday evening, Oct. 28, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, after a long and fulfilling life.
JoAnn was born April 6, 1931, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Berchik Kalmer, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a graduate of Chaney High School and worked for many years as the legal secretary for Atty. Anthony Pacella.
Mrs. Sebest was a longtime member of the former St. Elizabeth Church in Campbell.
She greatly enjoyed reading, traveling, and visiting casinos, and she especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family and longtime friends.
JoAnn leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 62 years, Edward J. Sebest, whom she married March of 1954; her son, Edward J. Sebest Jr. of Austin, Texas; her daughter, Linda (Duane) Filip of Austintown; two grandsons, Scott (Lauren) Filip of Pittsburgh and Brad Filip of San Diego; a great-granddaughter, Parker Rose; and many very close friends.
Two brothers, Joseph and James Kalmer, preceded JoAnn in death.
Family and friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 5, at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
