Obituary

GIRARD - Jerald "Jerry" Adams, 67, passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 8, 2025, in the comfort of his home surrounded by the love of his family.

Jerry was born Oct. 8, 1958, in Salem, a son of the late Howard and Ruby Hicks Adams and was a lifelong area resident.

He was a 1977 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and proudly served in the United States Navy.

Jerry worked for many years at North Star Steel before finishing his career as a truck driver with FedEx Freight. Known for his strong work ethic and dependable nature, he took pride in providing for his family and doing every job well.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Jerry was the heart of his family. He had a calming presence and a knack for keeping everyone steady, even in stressful times. His children remember him as "MacGyver" for his ability to fix just about anything, and as a dad who always checked in, no matter how grown they became.

A true music enthusiast, Jerry enjoyed playing guitar and passed his love of music to his children—each of whom shares his passion, with his daughter carrying on his talent through song. He was also an avid sports fan, cheering faithfully for the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes. In his younger years, he coached his kids in Little League, blending his love of sports with his dedication to family.

With a quick wit and a contagious laugh, Jerry never missed a chance to make others smile. He even dabbled in stand-up comedy in his younger days, a reflection of his sense of humor and easy connection with people.

Of all the joys in his life, becoming a grandfather was one of the greatest. The day he learned he was going to be a grandpa, he was said to have felt "larger than life." He cherished every moment with his grandson, Avett, who lovingly called him "Pop Pop."

Jerry is survived by his wife of 19 years, Jenelle Cutter Adams, whom he married Oct. 19, 2006; his children, Michael (Julie) Adams, Kevin Adams, Tyler (Kelsey) Adams, Chelsie Adams and Megan Cutter; his beloved grandson, Avett Adams; his sister, Pam (Richard) Hoyle; and several extended family members.

Jerry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his siblings, Joe Adams, Sandy Coic and Carol Tice, and his nephew, Chuck Hoyle.

Per Jerry's request, there are no services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Girard.
