YOUNGSTOWN - Jennie R. Columbo, 98, a longtime resident of the city's west side, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, September 20, 2024, in the comfort of her home, with her family by her side.

Jennie was born July 10, 1926, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Luciano and Maria DeLucia Ialungo and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a proud graduate of The Rayen School, Class of 1945, and after graduation Jennie briefly worked as a bookkeeper and stenographer before embracing her greatest role—dedicating her life to caring for her family.

Jennie was a member of the former Holy Name of Jesus Church and still practicing her Catholic faith. She proudly served as a member of the Columbian Federation Ladies Auxiliary Lodge 55 for an incredible 62 years. Jennie was known for her warm heart, her love of baking, and the joy she found in spending time with her family.

Jennie leaves to forever cherish her memory her two sons, Jeffrey R. (Janice) Columbo of Austintown and Randall N. (Patricia) Columbo of Poland; two grandsons, Nicholas Columbo (fiancée Jordan Balogh) of Poland and Geno Columbo (Sammie Marapese) of Struthers and many extended family members.

Her husband of 55 years, Nicholas A. Columbo, whom she married July 23, 1949, died April 10, 2005.

Two sisters, Pascarella "Pat" DeLorenzo and Theresa Marinelli also preceded Jennie in death.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown where a funeral service will take place at 6p.m.

Private interment will take place on Thursday at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Jennie will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.

Jennie's family would like to extend their love and gratitude to Jennie's care givers, Rita Diana and Karen Clark for the love and tenderness shown to Jennie during her illness.
