POLAND - Jean V. Houy, 78, passed away Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, at her home following a brief illness.

Jean was born Nov. 27, 1942, in Youngstown, was a daughter of the late Concezio "Jimmy" Rubino and Angelina B. Colangelo Rubino, and lived her life in this area.

She graduated from Chaney High School in 1962 and later from the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. Jean worked as an LPN for several years before becoming a full-time homemaker after her marriage.

Mrs. Houy enjoyed cooking, loved animals, and loved her family dearly, and she took great pride in keeping her home and yard pristine. A very caring person, Jean will always be remembered as a hardworking woman who dedicated herself to others, especially to her family, friends, and pets.

She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Youngstown.

Jean will be missed by her husband of 53 years, John M. Houy, whom she married Sept. 2, 1967; three children, Robert A. Houy of Poland, Diane M. Houy of Struthers, and Thomas M. Houy of Poland; a sister, Lena Gabriel (Bob Gibbs) of Boardman; a brother, David (Nancy) Rubino of Niles; and her feline friends, Kitty, Katie, and Garfield.

Canine friends, Dominique, Ebie, and Susie Beagle, are deceased.

There were no calling hours, and private services took place Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown. Please keep Jean and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
