YOUNGSTOWN – Janina Sodomora, 88, formerly of Williamson Avenue, passed away peacefully late Monday morning, March 25, 2019, at The Woodlands at AustinWoods.

Janina was born Jan. 19, 1931, in Poland, a daughter of the late Thomas and Katarzyna Pusiarska Bilowus, and came to America and Youngstown in the early 1950s.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker who dedicated her adult life to raising and caring for her family.

Mrs. Sodomora was a member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Youngstown, where she helped with the parish's pyrohy project. She was also a member of the Ukrainian National Association.

Janina enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and making sure no one ever left her home hungry. She loved Ukrainian music and enjoyed listening to the Ukrainian Radio Hour show on WKTL in Struthers. She enjoyed time spent with her family, especially her granddaughters.

Janina leaves her son, Michael (Patty) Sodomora of Youngstown; two granddaughters, Brittany (Erik) Bowyer of Boardman and Angelina (Dimitri) Harisis of Austintown; a sister, Aniela Pociask of Poland, Ohio; and a great-grandson, Georgio.

Her husband of 42 years, John Sodomora, whom she married Feb. 13, 1954 in Jeannette, Pa., passed away April 1, 1996. Besides her husband, a son, Steve J. Sodomora; two brothers, John and Peter Bilowus; and a sister, Helen Bovo, are deceased.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd. Youngstown, where a prayer service will take place at 5 p.m..

Funeral services will begin Thursday, March 28, at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home, and will continue at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church on West Rayen Avenue.

Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown, where Janina will be laid to rest next to her husband.
