AUSTINTOWN — Jack A. Jones, 91, passed away Monday afternoon, Oct. 12, 2026, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the love of his family.

Jack was born Oct. 5, 1935, in Youngstown, a son of the late Thomas and Margaret O’Leary Jones, and was a lifelong area resident. He lived in Hubbard for many years before making his home in Austintown.

Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War era and was stationed in Germany. He dedicated more than 40 years of service as a caretaker at Oak Hill Cemetery in Youngstown before retiring.

Jack was known for his sense of humor and playful personality. A jokester at heart, he enjoyed sharing a laugh with those around him. Above all, Jack was a devoted uncle who held a special place in the lives of his nieces and cherished the time he spent with his family.

Jack leaves to forever cherish his memory his sister, Jeanne Popovnak of Austintown; five nieces; a nephew; and many extended family members and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his two brothers, Thomas Jones and Daniel Jones; and his three sisters, Margaret Jones, Judith Vanik and Kathryn E. Popovnak.

Per Jack’s request, there will be no calling hours or services at this time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
