YOUNGSTOWN - Ida E. Markovic, 93, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 10, 2018, at The Assumption Village in North Lima after a long and fulfilling life.

Ida was born Sept. 28, 1925, in Hillsville, Pa., a daughter of the late Frank and Marie Femia Argiro, and came to Youngstown in the early 1950s.

She was a graduate of Bessemer High School in Pennsylvania and worked for General Fireproofing in Youngstown before becoming a homemaker and mother who lovingly raised and cared for her family for the remainder of her life.

Mrs. Markovic was a member of St. Brendan Church in Youngstown. She enjoyed cooking for both herself and especially for others, and she liked listening to music and dancing. Ida loved playing cards, skip-bo, Uno, and Yahtzee with her family and friends.

Ida was well-known for her contagious, infectious laugh, which led her to become known as "Giggles" to everyone at The Assumption Village.

Her husband of 54 years, Stephen W. Markovic Sr., whom she married Oct. 22, 1955, passed away April 24, 2010.

Ida leaves a daughter, Karen (Phillip) Petrella of Youngstown; a son, Stephen W. Jr. (Carolyn) Markovic of Perrysburg; seven grandchildren, Michael (Tammy) Smith, Mark (Christina) Smith, Phillip (Lisa) Petrella, Michael (Alaina) Petrella, Brandon (Megan) Gibson, Amber (Matt) Coleman, and Chad Gibson; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia (Anthony) Jacola of Mineral Ridge and Inez Sinibaldi of Austintown; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, four brothers, Patsy, John, Frank, and Joe Argiro, and a sister, Rose Propri, are deceased.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 14, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 15, at the funeral home, and will continue at St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave, Youngstown, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.

Committal services will follow the Mass, and will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown, where Ida will be laid to rest next to her husband.

Ida's family thanks all the individuals responsible for the kindness shown and care given to "mom" over the past few years.
