LIBERTY TOWNSHIP - Harry Nachim, 98, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, April 21, 2017, at his home following a long and fulfilling life.
Harry was born Dec. 3, 1918, in Youngstown, a son of the late Nicholas and Mary Kozak Nachim, and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Nachim was a 1937 graduate of The Rayen School and attended Youngstown College for a year. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 during World War II.
Harry retired in 1977 as a millwright after working for 26 years with Youngstown Sheet & Tube at both the Campbell and Brier Hill mills.
Mr. Nachim was a member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Youngstown, and volunteered for the church's pyrohy fundraiser.
He enjoyed travel, gardening, and spending time at home with his wife, Charlotte.
Harry leaves his beloved wife of 57 years, Charlotte Bielak Nachim, whom he married Nov. 8, 1959; many nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Vangie Bielak of New Castle.
Harry was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Sam Nerone, and by a brother, Terrence "Ted" Nachim.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m., Monday, April 24, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where a prayer service will take place at 4 p.m.
Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m., Tuesday at the funeral home, and will continue at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church.
Interment with military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
