YOUNGSTOWN - Glenda E. (Parker) Spencer, born July 9, 1934, in Atwater, Ohio, to Madolyn and James Parker, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, at the age of 91.
Glenda was a proud graduate of South High School, Class of 1952. She began her career working for the Ohio Bell Telephone Company until her marriage to Henry Spencer on June 15, 1963. Together they built a life around family, friendships, and hard work.
She was a devoted mother to four children: Randy (Lori) Spencer of Naples, Florida; Sheri (Robert) Pilolli of Youngstown; Lisa Spencer of Youngstown; and Jill (George) Houser of Las Vegas, Nevada. Alongside raising her family, Glenda worked beside her husband in the family business, The 13th Frame Tavern, where she became well known for her famous “Ma’s Hot Sausage Sandwiches,” a favorite among many who stopped in over the years.
Later in life, she worked in the gift room at Gorant Candies, where she enjoyed the friendships she made with her coworkers.
Socializing was always an important part of Glenda’s life. Beginning at the age of 12, she and her friends formed a club that turned into a monthly gathering that lasted for more than 75 years. She also enjoyed a monthly neighborhood card club and bowled in a couples league. In more recent years, one of her favorite routines was meeting friends for coffee and conversation at Plaza Donuts, Dunkin’, and especially Panera, where many mornings were spent sharing stories, laughter, and friendship. These gatherings became a cherished part of her daily life and were something she truly looked forward to.
Glenda was also a lifelong member of St. Brendan Catholic Church.
Above all else, Glenda’s greatest pride and joy were her seven grandchildren. She adored each of them and took every opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments, support them in their journeys, and remind them how deeply they were loved. Her grandchildren brought immense happiness to her life, and she never missed a chance to talk about them with pride. She will be lovingly remembered by Danielle Spencer of Warrenville, Illinois; Anthony (Bailey Gonci) Spencer of Canfield; Camryn Houser of Las Vegas, Nevada; Carly Houser of Youngstown; and Rocco, Gino, and Marco Pilolli of Youngstown.
She also leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Sandra (Bob) Stanko; many nieces and nephews; her dearest friend of 85 years, Norma Schweinsberg; and her beloved cat, Lily.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 51 years, Henry Spencer.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, March 20, at St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave., Youngstown. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church.
The family wishes to extend thanks to Dr. Cynthia Kravec, the nurses on 8W Ext. and SICU, and all of the physicians and staff at Mercy St. Elizabeth Hospital who provided such compassionate care.
