Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN — George A. Yakimoff, 71, of Youngstown's West Side, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, July 29, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

George was born Aug. 8, 1953, in Youngstown, a son of Alex Yakimoff and Consuela Mortaro Yakimoff, and was a lifelong area resident. He was a 1972 graduate of Chaney High School and worked as an insurance agent with Western & Southern Life for more than 30 years. George retired in 2010 but continued to work part time for several years afterward.

He was a member of St. Brendan Church and enjoyed bowling in the St. Brendan Men's Bowling League. George also liked taking trips to Atlantic City and Canada, playing cards, and most of all, spending time with his family.

George is survived by his mother, Consuela Yakimoff of Youngstown; three brothers, Alex Yakimoff and his twin, Michael Yakimoff, both of Youngstown, and David Yakimoff of Boardman; his sister, Gina Yakimoff of Youngstown; and many extended family members

He was preceded in death by his father, Alex Yakimoff; his grandparents, Anthony and Grace Mortaro and George and Josephine Yakimoff; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown. Prayers will be offered at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave., Youngstown.
