TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. - George R. Gayan, 93, formerly of Youngstown's west side, passed away January 4, 2024, at his home in Florida.
Born on January 26, 1930, in Youngstown, George was the beloved son of the late George and Margaret Bartfai Gayan. He made Tarpon Springs his home three decades ago after relocating to Florida.
George dedicated 42 years of his life to GF Business Systems as a forklift operator until his retirement in 1989. He served his country with pride during the Korean War as a member of the United States Army. Additionally, he was an esteemed member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Florida.
Mr. Gayan was a member of the former Holy Name of Jesus Church in Youngstown.
He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Linda Reese of Espyville, Pennsylvania; his son, George M. Gayan of Youngstown; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren and a brother, Leonard Gayan of New Waterford.
His wife of 41 years, Esther Nocera Gayan, whom he married May 29, 1952, died October 20, 1993.
Family and friends may gather to pay respects from 1:30 to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Resurrection Cemetery Chapel 300 N. Raccoon Rd., Youngstown, where a committal service with military honors will take place at 2 p.m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
