"Jessie" Sveth
August 17, 1927 – December 19, 2016
YOUNGSTOWN - Gelsomina Teresina "Jessie" Sveth, 89, of the city's west side, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, Dec. 19, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Jessie was born Aug. 17, 1927, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Ciro and Albina Savastano Campati, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a graduate of South High School and later earned a business degree from Youngstown College. Jessie worked for Republic Steel, Northside Hospital, The Tamarkin Company, and retired in the 1990s from Phar-Mor.
Jessie was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica.
Jessie's husband of 30 years, Nicholas Sveth, whom she married Oct. 17, 1953, passed away Dec. 24, 1983.
Jessie will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She leaves her daughter, Patricia M. Sveth, with whom she shared her home; her son, Nicholas J. Sveth of Howland; two grandchildren, Anthony J. Sveth and Tara E. (Jeff) Liebowitz; a brother, Joseph D. Campati of Canfield; and a sister, Florence L. Yannitti of Boardman.
In addition to her husband, two brothers, Anthony E. and Louis R. Campati, and an infant sister, Mary Jose, are deceased.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
Funeral services will begin at 12:45 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 22, at the funeral home, and will continue at 1:30 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mount Carmel, in Youngstown.
Committal services will follow at Calvary Cemetery, where Jessie will be laid to rest next to her husband, Nick.
Jessie's family wishes to thank her caregiver, Maribeth, and the nursing and respiratory staff at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Youngstown, especially Christopher, for the kindness shown and care given to Jessie and her family.
