YOUNGSTOWN - Gary E. Niggl, 66, of the city's west side, passed away early Thursday evening, March 3, 2016, at his home with his family by his side, following a lengthy illness.

Gary was born July 30, 1949, in the Bronx, New York, a son of the late Conrad and Eleanor Bohlig Niggl, and came to Youngstown in 1996.

Mr. Niggl was a graduate of Peekskill High School in New York, and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

He worked for General Motors in New York, Louisiana, and most recently at the Lordstown Plant, retiring in 2002.

Gary enjoyed crossword puzzles, coloring books, swimming, and spending time with his family.

Gary leaves his wife of nearly 47 years, Pauline Neidhardt Niggl, whom he married March 22, 1969; three children, Pauline "Staci" Medeiros (Don) of Austintown, Carla (Michael) Cafarelli of Youngstown, and Gary E. Jr. (Michelle) Niggl of Austintown; 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Nicholas, Chelsea, Bianca, Conrad, Thomas, Matthew, Gary, Gabrielle, and Grace; five great-grandchildren, Aaiden, Ian, Cathryn, Rylee, and Staci; and a brother, Ralph (Maureen) Niggl of New York.

A brother, Conrad Niggl, preceded him in death.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service at 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be accepted by Gary's family.
