AUSTINTOWN - Fredrick C. Wolfe, 69, formerly of Girard, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 5, 2016, at Austinwoods Nursing Home in Austintown.
Fredrick was born Feb. 10, 1947, in Claysburg, Pa., a son of the late Daniel R. and Ethel Clapper Wolfe Sr., and came to this area with his family as a child.
Fred was a graduate of Girard High School and served from 1967 to 1969 in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He worked for U.S. Steel.
Mr. Wolfe was a member of First Baptist Church in McDonald.
Fred loved playing country music on his guitar and watching old western movies, and he liked to camp and hunt with his dad and his brother, Dan, in Pennsylvania. He also liked making jewelry and was a collector of pens. A colorful man, Fred was seldom seen without a soda pop in his hand and a candy bar in his pocket.
Fred leaves five siblings, Daniel R. (Kathy) Wolfe Jr., of Pleasantville, Pa., Theresa Misemer of Florida, Jack Edward (Eve) Wolfe of Antler, Okla., Beverly (Joseph) Kuzan of Youngstown, and Deborah (Gary) Bell of Warren; 14 nieces and nephews, Jarrod Wolfe, Mary Jo Clutter, Eddie Wolfe, Jennifer Toon, Shawn Wolfe, Ethan Wolfe, Marissa Wolfe, Evielyn Wolfe, Harley Wolfe, Gage Wolfe, Joseph Kuzan Jr., Vincent Kuzan, Sarah Shales, and Dustin Bell; and 30 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides his parents, a nephew, Shane Ledsome, preceded Fred in death.
Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon, Monday, Oct. 10, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Girard, where funeral services will take place at noon.
A committal service with military honors will follow at Pineview Memorial Park in Warren.
