YOUNGSTOWN - Frank Laskowski, 93, formerly of Girard, passed away early Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 12, 2016, at Park Vista in Youngstown, following a long and fulfilling life.

Frank was born March 30, 1922, in Youngstown, a son of the late Wladyslaw "Walter" and Maryanna Wroblewski Laskowski, and was a lifelong area resident.

He attended The Rayen School, and then worked at the Ravenna Arsenal before he joined the U.S. Navy during World War II. During the war, he proudly served aboard the USS Laffey, which was known as "the ship that wouldn't die."

After the war, Frank attended jewelry school for two years, and worked at General Fireproofing for 35 years, retiring in the early 1980s.

He was a lifelong member of St. Casimir Church in Youngstown, until the church closed several years ago. He was a member of the Trumbull County Lapidary Club, the Girard Senior Center, and of PLAV Post No. 87. Frank was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Venglarik Council, No. 1516, where he became a Lifetime Honorary Member.

Frank leaves a niece, Marcella Dionisio of Medina; three nephews, Walter A. (Debra) Laskowski, Kenneth P. (Carol) Johnston, and James H. Johnston, all of Boardman; seven great-nieces and great-nephews; and his companion, Sarah Dzur, with whom he shared his life for the past 50 years.

A brother, Walter A. Laskowski, and two sisters, Gertrude M. Johnston and Sister Mary Clarentia (formerly Helen Laskowski), preceded Frank in death.

Family and friends may gather from 11:30 a.m. to noon, Friday, Jan. 22, at St. Christine Church on South Schenley Avenue in Youngstown, where a Memorial Mass will take place at noon, with a military tribute to follow.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.

Arrangements were entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
