YOUNGSTOWN - Frank M. Kambic, 79, of the city's east side, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 3, 2016, at the Cleveland Clinic following an extended illness.
Frank was born in Youngstown on Aug. 25, 1936, a son of the late Frank and Agnes Kambic, and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a 1953 graduate of East High School and subsequently joined the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving his country in the military until 1956.
Frank later attended Youngstown State University, and worked for Republic Steel as a mechanical engineer, for John Oltean Engineering, and retired from Globex in Austintown.
Mr. Kambic was active on the East High School Class of 1953 Reunion Committee. He was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church in Youngstown.
Frank leaves his wife of 53 years, JoAnn Cina Kambic, whom he married Feb. 21, 1963; his daughter, Francine M. Kambic of Alpharetta, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Rosalie Cina (Paul) Angelot; two nieces, Nicole (Leo) Puhalla and Julie Angelot; and a great-niece and a great-nephew, Olivia Puhalla and Leo Jacob Puhalla.
Frank will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, John Cina.
There will be no calling hours. Family and close friends are welcome to attend a memorial service with military honors to be held at Frank's home at a later date.
Arrangements were entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
