GIRARD — Frances D. Stanovcak, 90, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.
Frances was born July 30, 1935, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Dominic and Nora (Buongrazio) DiCesare, and was a lifelong Girard resident.
She was a graduate of Girard High School and worked at J.C. Penney for many years while raising and caring for her family.
Frances was a member of St. Rose Church and served as secretary of the Girard Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, playing bingo and visiting casinos, and in her younger years was an avid bowler. Most of all, Frances treasured the time she spent with her family.
Frances leaves to forever cherish her memory her children, Robert (Tamara) Stanovcak Jr., Steve (JoDee) Stanovcak, Mark (Rochelle) Stanovcak, Susan (Paul) Fitch and Marylyn (Raymond) Grow; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Janet (Sandy) Zander; and many extended family members.
Her husband of 30 years, Robert Stanovcak, whom she married Sept. 1, 1956, passed away Jan. 2, 1987. Two daughters, Karen Shelley and Elaine Field; a sister, Mary Lou Acri; and a brother, Dominic DiCesare, also preceded Frances in death.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2026, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Girard.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at the funeral home and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Rose Church, 48 E. Main St., Girard.
Interment will follow at Girard Liberty Union Cemetery, where Frances will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
