CHILLICOTHE – Ethel T. Wallenhorst, 94, went to be with the Lord, Saturday morning, July 8, 2017, passing away at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Ethel was born June 30, 1923, in New York City, a daughter of the late Miguel and Beryl Florence Berridge Barbara, and came to Austintown from Erie, Pa. in the early 1970's. Besides her time spent living in this area, Ethel had also lived in Michigan, Delaware, Florida, Arizona, and North Carolina, before settling in Chillicothe in 2006.

Mrs. Wallenhorst graduated from Morris High School in New York City, at age 16 in 1940.

She worked as a wrapper at Strouss Department Store in downtown Youngstown for 10 years, retiring in 1985 at age 62.

Ethel was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in downtown Chillicothe.

She leaves a son, Steven (Martha) Wallenhorst of Manassas, Va.; two daughters, Susan Bleeker of New Castle, Del., and Betty (Gerald D.) Wolfe, with whom she made her home; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 11, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4490 Norquest Blvd. Austintown, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
