YOUNGSTOWN - Elizabeth R. (Cappitte) Panno, 90,beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Elizabeth, who was affectionately known as Betty, was born Nov. 2, 1934, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Samuel J. Cappitte and June A. (Fleischer) Cappitte.
Betty lived a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to her family, creating countless cherished memories along the way. She found joy in preparing Sunday dinners, traveling to Las Vegas and Florida, and she especially enjoyed polka dancing with her late husband, Alex.
Betty had a special gift for creating a warm and welcoming home where everyone felt loved and cared for. Betty also enjoyed her time managing Isaly's Dairy, Lawson Dairy, and later owning her own pizza restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona.
Betty loved playing bingo and bocce with her husband, family, and friends, always embracing life with joy and energy.
A woman of deep faith, Betty was a devoted member of St. Blaise Parish, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church where she drew strength, solace, and community throughout her life.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Deborah Panno of Youngstown and Georgeann Rodriquez of Austintown; her grandchildren, Frank (Christine) Garcia, Georgeann (Michael) DiRando, Jennifer (James) Hunt, Tabitha Schewirey, Anthony Garcia, Sherri (Alan) Greathouse, Philip (Bri) Garcia, Elizabeth Schewirey, and Luis Serrano; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her brothers, William Cappitte and Daniel Cappitte; her sister, June Cappitte; and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Betty is now reunited with her husband of 50 years, Alex Panno; her son, George Schewirey; her parents, Samuel J. and June A. Cappitte; her siblings, Ruth Cappitte, Beverly (Cappitte) Pazel, Samuel Cappitte, and John Cappitte; her son-in-law, Elias Rodriquez; and her twin infant grandsons, Christopher and Timothy Rodriquez.
Elizabeth's legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Family and friends may call from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where a funeral service will take place at 6:30 p.m.
