AUSTINTOWN - Elaine M. Kovach, 82, passed away peacefully, Saturday, July 12, 2025, in the comfort of her home with her daughters by her side.
Elaine was born June 24, 1943, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Edward and Margaret Strasik Kravec and was a lifelong area resident
She was a 1961 graduate of Chaney High School and went on to study nursing at the Youngstown Hospital Association School of Nursing. Later in life, she earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Penn State University.
Elaine worked as a registered nurse at Southside Hospital and later retired from Northside Hospital in the mid-2000s.
Mrs. Kovach was a member of St Blaise Parish, St. Joseph Church in Austintown. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling to Arizona, fishing in Canada, boating, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends.
Elaine leaves to cherish her memory her three daughters, Laurie (Mike) Wolfe and Shelly (Dave) Siembieda, both of Austintown, and Deanna (Rodney) Faria of Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren, Richard (Hannah), Alan, Peter and Joseph Wolfe, Andrew and Ella Siembieda, and Dante, Madison, Marisa and Reese Faria; her sister-in-law, Betty Kravec of Canfield; her brother-in-law, Frank (Betty Jo) Kovach of Austintown; her sister-in-law, Dorothy (Jim) Terlecki of Youngstown; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and countless friends.
Her husband of 58 years, Richard C. Kovach, whom she married Oct. 31, 1964, died July 14, 2023.
Two brothers, Edward Kravec and James Kravec, and a sister-in-law, Gerry Kravec, also preceded her in death.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, and again from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Prayers will be offered at 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 4545 New Road, Austintown.
Interment will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Austintown, where Elaine will be laid to rest beside her husband.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Hospice of the Valley and Cornerstone Caregiving for their compassionate care and support over the past two years.
