AUSTINTOWN - Dorothy A. Schultz, 95, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, September 18, 2024, at Antonine Village after a long and fulfilling life.
Dorothy was born August 29, 1929, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late George and Mary Klacik Henik and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Chaney High School and worked as a secretary at Strouss' for 25 years and then went to work at Bank One for five years before she retired. After retiring, Dorothy embraced a new role as a hostess at Burger King on Mahoning Avenue for 13 years, where she enjoyed meeting new people.
Dorothy was a devout member of the Catholic community, first attending the former Our Lady of Hungary Church and later becoming a member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown. She was actively involved in the Catholic War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary John J. Buckley Post, the Austintown Senior Center, and the St. George Croatian Lodge Senior Citizens.
Her life revolved around her family. Dorothy loved cooking for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and hosting cherished Sunday dinners at her home. She also found joy in tending to her flowers, which brightened her home.
Dorothy leaves behind her daughter, Kathy (Robert) Boris of Austintown; five grandchildren, Stacey Schultz, Michael (Maggie) Schultz, Brooke Schultz, Kayla Schultz, and Heather Schultz; several great-grandchildren, including Savanna Schultz and Jersey Huff and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Her husband, Edward Schultz, whom she married August 18, 1951, died May 22, 1978.
Dorothy was also preceded in death by her two sons, Edward Schultz and David Schultz; a granddaughter, Chealsay Schultz; her sister, Mary Cheff; and five brothers, John, George, Michael, Joseph, and Andrew Henik.
Dorothy's warmth and love will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
Family and friends may gather to pay respects from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, September 27, 2024, at St. Joseph Church 4545 New Rd., Austintown, where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
Dorothy's family thanks the nurses, Sisters and staff of Antonine Village for their kindness shown and compassionate care given to mom during her stay there.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
