BOARDMAN - Dorothy Acierno, 87, formerly of Girard, passed away Monday morning, May 1, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center, with her family by her side.
Dorothy was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Carl and Philomena Funge Archie, and was a lifelong area resident.
She worked for the G.M. McKelvey Company in Youngstown for many years.
Mrs. Acierno was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Youngstown, and volunteered at the Sam Camen Center.
She enjoyed playing bingo and crocheting, and she was a true "bargain hunter" who loved going to garage sales around town.
Her husband, Steve Acierno, whom she married May 19, 1949, passed away Nov. 1, 1985.
Dorothy leaves her daughter, Stephanie (Charles) Grameth of Boardman; her son, David Acierno of Youngstown; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Acierno of Youngstown; four grandchildren, Randy Acierno, David (Vanessa Quijano) Acierno II, Ashley (Jake Hvisdak) Acierno, and Erin (Jim Lavin) Grameth; six great-grandchildren, Taylor, MacKenzie, Conner, Rylee, Alexis, and Jordan; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Besides her husband, a granddaughter, Amanda Grameth, and a sister, Rose Marie Crank, preceded Dorothy in death.
Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S .State St., Girard, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m.
Interment will take place at Girard City Cemetery, where Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her husband.
