MCDONALD - Donna Lee Peterson-Sergent, 72, passed away peacefully, Friday morning, July 12, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Born on September 21, 1951, in Reed City, Michigan, Donna was the beloved daughter of the late Donald Rudy Peterson and Gladys June Peterson. She spent her formative years in LeRoy, Michigan, and graduated from Pine River High School in 1969. Donna pursued her passion for music at Central Michigan University, earning a bachelor's degree in music education.

Donna's career as an educator began at Posen High School in Posen, Michigan, where she dedicated many years to teaching band and music. Her influence extended beyond music; she cherished her students as her own children, imparting valuable lessons on self-esteem, work ethic, and life itself. The heartfelt gratitude from her former students continued to bring her immense joy throughout her life.

In addition to her teaching career, Donna found fulfillment as a massage therapist. Her nurturing spirit and dedication were evident in all her endeavors. She attended the Unity Spiritual Centre in Girard where she found peace and solace. She was a spiritual leader within her family and her home.

Donna is survived by her husband of 22 years, Larry Sergent, whom she married August 31, 2002; her five brothers, Douglas Peterson, Daryl Peterson, DeWayne (Sallie) Peterson, Dex Peterson and Donald Peterson (Karen Connery); two step-daughters, Charity (James) Schultz, and Kara Sergent; two grandchildren, Ayla Puszakowski and Joseph Puszakowski; many nieces and nephews and many extended family members.

Donna's memory will live on through the lives she touched and the music she shared. Her legacy of love, dedication, and kindness will be deeply missed.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters-in-law, Mary Peterson, Janice Peterson, and Brenda Peterson, her step-daughter, Angela Lasch, her son-in-law, Stephen Lasch and three grandchildren, Noah, Kayley, and Hannah Lasch.

Family and friends may gather to pay respects from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Unity Spiritual Centre 1226 Naylor Lloyd Rd., Girard, OH 44420 where a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m.
