Donald George Kredel

YOUNGSTOWN - Donald George Kredel, 67, died unexpectedly, Sunday evening, Dec. 14, 2025, at his home.

Donald was born May 21, 1958, in Youngstown, a son of the late Donald C. Kredel and Elizabeth Louise Ehrman Kredel, and was a lifelong area resident.

He was a 1976 graduate of Chaney High School and attended New Castle School of Trades. Donald worked at the General Electric Austintown Coil Plant for 11 years until the plant closed in 2008. He then was employed by RHM Maintenance at Joseph Knight Towers in Austintown for nine years.

Donald attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. He enjoyed working on classic cars, woodworking and taking on projects that allowed him to work with his hands.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Beth Potkonicky Kredel, whom he married June 18, 1983; his son, David J. Kredel of Youngstown; his sister, Debbie Kovalan of Vermillion, OH and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Kredel.

A celebration of Donald's life will be held in the spring.
