GIRARD - Donald J. Kovacs, 76, passed away peacefully, Sunday evening, February 19, 2023, in the comfort of his home.

Donald was born November 18, 1946, in Youngstown, a son of the late John and Frances Nurkiewicz Kovacs, and was raised in Austintown and moved to Girard in 1977.

He was a graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and worked at General Motors Lordstown plant for 36 ½ years and retired as a foreman in 2006.

Mr. Kovacs was a member of St. Rose Church.

He enjoyed playing golf and watching national, state and local sporting events.

Donald leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 45 years, Marilyn Tutko Kovacs, whom he married September 17, 1977; a brother, Gerald (Debby) Kovacs of Austintown; two sisters, Nance (George) Rayokovich of Garfield Heights, and Janet Kovacs (Peter Aggers) of Hubbard; a niece, Allison (Mike) Wilms of Hubbard, and two grandchildren, Cyler and Paige.

Don will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Besides his parents, a son, Brian J. Kovacs, preceded Don in death.

Private services were held on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
