YOUNGSTOWN - Diana R. Kommel, 78, of the city's west side, passed away peacefully Friday, June 28, 2024, at Hospice House with her family by her side.

Diana was born August 14, 1945, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Pete and Mary Jane Kelly, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and was a dedicated wife mother and grandmother. Diana also worked in the catering business for many years, bringing joy and delicious meals to countless events.

A devoted member of the Saxon Club, Diana served as president of the Saxon Retirees, where she was cherished for her leadership and camaraderie. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, creating lasting memories that will be treasured by all who knew her.

Diana is survived by her daughter, Christine Sijak of Girard; her son, Kelly (Stephanie) Kommel of Austintown; three grandchildren, Andrew, Sydney, and Jillian, and a brother, Donald (Mary Ann) Kelly of Columbiana.

Her husband, Gary W. Kommel, whom she married August 8, 1997, passed away unexpectedly May 30, 2016.

A brother, Chuck Kelly also preceded Diana in death.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where a memorial service will be held at 6 p.m.

Private interment will take place at Brunstetter Cemetery in Austintown.
